RESPECT FOR GOD, NATURE AND ADVENTURE
We were about to head onto the dirt roads when our guide, Putu, mentioned that he had to make a quick detour to the Pasar to buy something. As we continued our journey up the volcano, Putu stopped the truck once more and told us that he would need a minute. We watched as he hopped out of the Land Rover, taking along a bag of what turned out to be religious offerings which he had purchased earlier. He knelt before a discreet alter, placed the offering gently on the ground, before raising his hand to say a solemn prayer.
As we got back into the truck, Putu smiled, "... respect for God, nature and adventure."
